NORA Silver Oil Heat Technician’s Certification Review & Test

This Seminar is designed for heating Service Technicians, HVAC Sales Personnel, Service Managers, Plumbing & Heating contractors, and anyone who wants to learn how Oilheat equipment operates.

SILVER CERTIFICATION CRITERIA:

  • Minimum of three years experience working on oil burners
  • Minimum of 100 hours of training
  • Passage of the 100 question multiple-choice Silver test based on NORA’s Oil Heat Technicians Manual administered by a NORA proctor. The exam is closed book.

If you do not meet the NORA qualifications of three years experience and 100 hours of training you are still welcome to take the course. The course is aimed at preparing Technicians to take the certification test, but it is a comprehensive overview of Oilheat technology and would be interesting for anyone wishing to learn more about how oil burners and heating systems operate. It would also be useful for anyone who is responsible for providing technical support for service technicians.

This fast-paced fact-filled seminar is the quickest, easiest way for experienced technicians to obtain the National Oilheat Research Alliance Silver Technician Certification.

This is the National Oilheat Technician Certification Program. It is also the official State Oilheat Technician Licensing Program for several States and is recognized by Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) as equivelent for their Heating Specialist Certification. It recognizes and encourages technicians who demonstrate the experience and skills to maintain oilfired-heating systems at optimal safety, efficiency, and reliability and perform service work of the highest quality. INSTRUCTOR:

Bob Hedden is the NORA proctor for this session. Once testing is completed, tests are returned to NORA for electronic processing. Grade notification is made by email. If the grade is satisfactory you will receive a NORA Certificate of Completion and a NORA Certification Wallet card via email that you can print and laminate.

The textbook for this certification is the June 6, 2016 Edition of the NORA Oilheat Technicians Manual. While you are not required to buy the book ($52.70) to take the test it is a good idea. You may order your books directly from NORA at noraweb.org (http://www.norastore.org/) and get them in advance of the class date. The book is also available on DVD ($16.00) or can be downloaded ($15.00).

STUDENTS AND EMPLOYERS: Pre-registration is required. You must bring a picture ID, your Social Security number, home address, and an email address. Employers, your employee must meet the qualifications as listed on page 1, their years of service exists, and is on file. Written documentation of their required creditials will be supplied upon request from either EMANH or NORA.
